Education Manager | Full-time | Salary range: $25.21 - $32.15/hour
City of Orlando Search: Horticulture Education Supervisor
The Education Manager is the driving force behind the Garden’s interpretive experiences, public programming, and educational initiatives. Your mission is to engage schools, families, and community members through exciting, hands-on learning opportunities by developing and overseeing educational programs, writing interpretive content and curriculum, building community partnerships, leading and training staff and volunteers, strategic planning and budget development, and engaging and inspiring visitors.  The Gardens regularly offers tours, classes, field trips, programs, and events for all ages across Science & Nature, History & Culture, Health & Wellness, and Art & Design. 

Qualifications

  • Passion for science, history, humanities, and/or museum studies, with the creativity to design meaningful interpretive experiences for the public; Experience conducting museum tours and programs for all ages.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop educational curriculum and interpretive materials.

  • Familiarity with museum best practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences, including multicultural and social backgrounds.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve goals.

  • Highly organized with experience managing multiple projects and responsibilities.

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required in education, horticulture, public gardens education, cultural studies, or related field with 2-3 years of experience developing educational programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

 

Event Associates | Part-time – Weekdays, weekends, nights | Starting at $15.00/hour
City of Orlando Search: Entertainment Facility Service Worker
The Event Associates are responsible for assisting with the set-up, execution, and tear-down of events such as weddings, private events, corporate functions, and special events at Harry P. Leu Gardens.  This role requires a high level of customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is able to work a flexible schedule, organized, energetic, and a team player who is passionate about creating memorable experiences for our clients and guests.  Experience working with the public preferred; Knowledge of event planning, Microsoft Office, and AV equipment a plus. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions. One (1) year general maintenance experience required; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

 

Horticulture Assistants | Part-time – Weekdays, weekends, nights | Starting at $17.87/hour
City of Orlando Search: Horticulture Assistant
Performs skilled work in the preparation, cultivation, and care of the grounds and of various types of flowers, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees at Harry P. Leu Gardens or the City Nursery. Propagates, arranges, and prunes plants. Prepares soils and bedding for planting. Prepares and dispenses plant and lawn care chemicals. Assists the public with horticulture, floriculture, agriculture, and entomology-related problems. Work is performed under direct supervision and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through observations, discussions, and results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Horticulture or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Work is performed outdoors and employee may be subject to unfavorable weather conditions and insects.
