Planning Your Media Visit & Sending Requests

Harry P. Leu Gardens, Orlando’s historic 50-acre botanical oasis, is proud to collaborate with local and national media to highlight the different programs and exhibitions offered by the Gardens. If you are a member of the media (including but not limited to: news reporters, content creators, radio professionals, student papers, and journalists), please reach out to our team via email to discuss your needs.

For general press inquiries, advertising, and commercial photo/video permits, please contact Tracy Micciche, Event & Marketing Manager. For preferred image requests and content creator/influencer collaboration inquiries, please contact Caitlyn McGonigal, Digital Marketing Coordinator.

When reaching out, please reach out via email at least one week prior to your requested media visit date with the following:

  • Your name and affiliated media group/account
  • A media kit, or information on your media group/account
  • Details on your coverage request, including number of requested visitors, which event/program you wish to cover and why, and any gear/equipment you plan to bring that the Gardens should take into consideration
  • The anticipated publishing date of your coverage

We understand that the landscape of media and news is ever-evolving, and may occasionally call for last-minute requests. At Harry P. Leu Gardens, we strive to accommodate these requests when possible.

Harry P. Leu Gardens offers an email list for members of the media and content creators. This list provides details on upcoming partnership, collaboration, and visit opportunities that are dedicated to members of the media. Members of the media of all sizes are encouraged to sign up for this list. To sign up for the official Harry P. Media Policy

While visiting the Gardens as a member of the media, please keep the following in mind to help ensure an enjoyable visit for yourself, your media team, and other guests of Harry P. Leu Gardens:

  • The Gardens aims to maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all visitors. During your media visit, personal devices and radios should be silenced or used with headphones. If recording, please maintain a reasonable noise level, and be respectful of other guests. Occasionally, the Gardens staff may be working in garden areas and using equipment with some noise during your visit.
  • Photographs, video, or film for commercial or advertising purposes must be authorized by Harry P. Leu Gardens in advance.
  • When photographing/filming, please do not block, disrupt, or hinder visitor accessibility, pathways, restroom areas, or garden displays. The Gardens reserves the right to limit access for wagons, carts, and large equipment.
  • Photo/video behind-the-scenes at the Gardens, including in administrative/staff locations and greenhouses, are prohibited unless requested and approved in advance.
  • Please be mindful of special/private events and other media professionals when photographing/filming. 
  • Harry P. Leu Gardens is a no drone zone. Due to FAA regulations and our proximity to local healthcare facilities, drone flight, photography, or other unmanned aircraft are not permitted. Media requests including drone flight will be denied.
  • Harry P. Leu Gardens encourages the tagging of the Gardens on social media. Members of the media are encouraged to send collaboration invites on social platforms. Please note that the sending of a collaboration request/tag on social media does not guarantee a repost or accept of the collaboration request. The Gardens strives to share and accept tags that are appropriate, family-friendly, and align with our mission.
  • As part of the consideration for entrance to Harry P. Leu Gardens, visitors give consent to the City of Orlando and its contractors to photograph or videotape them and any minor children who accompany them to the Gardens and use images for informational, educational, promotional or publicity purposes concerning the City and its services. The photos or videos may be used on the City’s websites, in City publications or displays, newspapers, magazines, reports or other public documents; or electronic or digital recordings. Any photos or video taken in the Gardens may be used without any further consent or authorization from its visitors and visitors will not be entitled to any compensation for use of the photos and video. By accepting admission to Harry P. Leu Gardens, visitors voluntarily accept and agree to these terms.
  • Please note the following items are prohibited for all guests of Harry P. Leu Gardens, including media professionals: firearms and weapons of any kind, including items that look like weapons, artificial flower petals, balloons, birdseed, confetti, glitter, illegal substances, rice, sports equipment, sports games, bicycles, or other personal sports devices such as skateboards and roller-blades, personal golf carts, and portable music playing devices without headphones, as well as the spreading of cremated remains.

Harry P. Leu Gardens may cancel or reschedule a media visit, event, or partnership/collaboration at any point, if the Gardens or City of Orlando believe it to be in the best interest of the Gardens, its guests, plant displays, and/or it does not align with Harry P. Leu Gardens' mission.
